What happens before the concrete arrives
We set the formwork and place any required mesh, reinforcement or other embedments before delivery. These are part of the preparation, not items to add once the concrete is on site. Our slab installation equipment includes a vibrating screed.
How we edge and joint the slab
We edge and joint the slab where required. We can form joints with a jointing tool before the concrete sets or saw-cut them afterward. For saw-cutting, we wait until the concrete is firm enough that cutting will not tear it. Those are different timing requirements, so joint work does not always happen during finishing.
When curing starts
We begin curing as soon as finishing is complete. A finished surface is not the end of the installation work; curing belongs in the project scope too.
Working over existing concrete
For an overlay, we prepare the existing concrete surface before applying the new material. If you are comparing an overlay with a new slab, check that the proposed overlay work includes surface preparation, not just application.
What concrete slab installation costs
Our concrete slab installation range is $6–$12 per square foot. Multiply the planned slab area by that range for an initial budget, rather than treating either end as a fixed quote. When reviewing the scope, check what it includes for formwork, required reinforcement or embedments, jointing and curing.
